There’s a real rock’n’roll story at heart here. What do you do if you’re looking after audio for one of the biggest tours of the year, and the production concept and specification haven’t really been achieved before? The answer: you ask them to build you a brand new one. With all the hurdles that need to be overcome such as modern regulations, the bottom line, world pandemics and a focus on eco-friendly solutions, it’s refreshing to see a bit of old-fashioned attitude to ‘get the job done’.
In last month’s edition of LSi, Steve Moles looked at the complete production behind Ed Sheeran’s +–=÷x (Mathematics) tour. One of several pioneering aspects of this incredible touring production was Meyer Sound’s all-new Panther linear line array system. I headed down to London’s Wembley Stadium, where I met up with Meyer Sound senior product manager Andy Davies and system engineer Charlie Albin, plus FOH engineer and production director Chris Marsh, to take a closer look at this product’s remarkable debut in-situ.
