More than once, I’ve heard people say that LEDs don’t
throw as far as tungsten or arc lamps. Is that true? Of
course not. LEDs can no more defy the inverse square
law than they can defy the laws of gravity. All things being equal i.e., the same luminous flux and beam angle – it will produce
the same illuminance regardless of the light source. That’s one
LED myth I’ve heard over the years.
Recently, on a show, I heard another one. A fellow master
electrician asked me why Lightwright produced correct power
calculations for arc lamps or tungsten, but not for LEDs.
This was not the first time I’ve heard someone say the power
calculations in Lightwright were wrong, so I decided to take
a closer look . . .
