James Simpson gets hands-on with Elation’s versatile new profile fixture and discovers where its wide-ranging functionality could be put to best use ….
I first met Elation Professional’s Paragon S in what can only be described as a lighting designer’s playground – Sound Technology’s demo space in Letchworth, a high-ceilinged room crammed with every fixture in their catalogue, with enough consoles and speakers to run a small festival. The
Paragon was parked centre stage, waiting to prove that Elation’s new series isn’t just a Proteus remix. With opera and theatre being my own background in light, I approached it with the usual scepticism: I’ve been promised quiet heads, true white engines and easy maintenance before,
only to discover over-engineering and too many features results in bulky, noisy lights.
Perhaps the Paragon series is going to be better?
