Riddle me this: which light is brand new to the industry, yet has a long, storied history in the business?
The ‘new’ Cyberlight LED actually has a lineage dating back to 1994 and comes from hardy stock with a proven track record on concert tours, large nightclubs, theme parks, and corporate events. The original Cyberlight
had bells and whistles galore, and the new Cyberlight LED adds even more to the legacy.
Moving mirror fixtures have an inherent advantage over moving yoke fixtures. Because there is less mass to move, they can move quicker with faster start and stop times – and that’s the hallmark of the Cyberlight legacy. The Cyberlight LED can pan 180° in 0.56 seconds and can tilt 112° in 0.53 seconds, which is much faster than any moving yoke fixture. That alone makes it capable of adding energy to a show. And unlike its predecessor, which used relative encoding, the Cyberlight LED has absolute encoding with ETC’s Whisper Home technology. This is a more advanced method of keeping track of the radial position of the stepper motors. Instead of the clacking sound it used to make to find its home positions for the motorised effects, it knows its absolute position at all times and can correct itself without a hard reset. Like its predecessor, it features a break-resistant mirror made of treated glass.
