Chauvet Professional has left me inspired by its latest product. As someone who had mainly used the part of the company’s product range aimed at being more affordable, I wasn’t prepared when I deep-dived into this high-end product. I learned that Chauvet Professional has, in fact, for quite a while it seems, been turning out products that could be defined as elite. This shift is vividly encapsulated in the Storm 4 Profile, a product that symbolises the brand’s evolution and expanding market reach.
My personal journey with Chauvet products mirrors this evolution. I recall the initial surprise of seeing Chauvet fixtures at the Royal Opera House, sharing shelf space with much pricier and established luminaires. At the time, it seemed unlikely that a brand known for catering to a different segment of the market would find a place in the rigorous and demanding environment of high-end opera and commercial theatre.
This perception stemmed from an industry-wide understanding of Chauvet’s position: a provider of affordable, functional, yet perhaps not ‘top-tier’ lighting solutions. However, this view has gradually shifted. The integration of Chauvet Professional fixtures into our repertoire at the Royal Opera House highlighted a crucial industry insight: the value of affordability without significant compromise on quality and functionality.
