About the role
The Stage Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the rehearsal process and performance season. This position will require an active involvement in the company management team to support the creative team. The successful candidate must be available to work on the Tour of Barber of Seville, 13 June – 18 September 2022.
Key areas of focus
- Bump-in & bump out all Stage Management, Orchestral equipment and Property elements of the Production in rehearsals and the theatres.
- Liaise with the Wigs and Wardrobe Supervisor regarding dressing room allocation and door cards
- Liaise with the FOH staff of each venue in regards to starting procedure, latecomers and emergency
evacuations - Organise for the hire and return of touring headsets and set up in each venue. This includes ensuring headsets are charged and in good working order.
- Follow-through on origination, update and modification of all relevant show plots, prompt scripts and the like of the Production. Including
retrieving information from all departs for the purpose of a show bible - Maintain the technical standard of the production by communicating closely with the Head Mechanist and Head of Lighting.
- Manage all rehearsals, including running all rehearsals and sound balances on the road and if the occasion arises block in an understudy Props setting and maintenance and purchasing of consumable
- In consultation with the Conductor Support the Child
Coordinator in managing and directing the children’s
chorus rehearsal - Develop additional plots and paperwork should they be needed due to cast sickness or venue unavailability (microphone plot, cover cast plot, fly plot, follow spot plot)
- Work within the company framework and communicate effectively with colleagues to achieve a professional and safe outcome at all stages of the rehearsal and performance process.
- Maintain the tea and coffee roster and supplies
- Ensure all approved expenses for onstage consumables and tea and coffee supplies (including fresh milk) are submitted promptly to receive reimbursement
- Administer the company sign in/out sheets
- Develop and maintain inventory documentation of the State Management, orchestral equipment and props elements to maintain and archive the production.
Our ideal candidate will have
- Tertiary Qualifications in Stage Management or other related field
- 3 years’ proven experience in the area(s) of Stage Management or equivalent
- Be highly skilled in the reading of musical scores and call of operatic productions
- Experience working in an theatre environments on a regional or national tour, and understand the logistics and communication that is required to operate and maintain a performance and rehearsal schedule
- An understanding of the requirements for managing artists and a stage management team in a performance and rehearsal environment
