Purchasing Officer

Procurement Officer

The primary role of the Procurement Officer is to support the Operations team to deliver their responsibilities on time and on budget. Responsibilities include but not limited to maintaining accurate and timely purchase order processing, monitoring stock levels and track and trace freight.   This role will be based at our Kelvin Grove warehouse with opportunities to visit customer sites and suppliers.  This is advertised as a part-time role; however, we are looking to grow the role into a full-time position quickly.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Generate and Monitor purchase orders in AroFlo
  • Creation & management of Bill of Materials for projects
  • Manage the purchase of consumables, local supplies and services.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all team members with product and order status questions.
  • Liaise with suppliers for quotes, lead times and delivery.
  • Track and report material deliveries and backorders
  • Assist in warehouse duties on behalf of AP/AR to ensure that all PO’s are being receipted to avoid account issues.
  • Maintain the supplier folder on SharePoint 
  • Communicate with international freight suppliers to organize deliveries. 
  • All tasks from purchase through to delivery by negotiating and conducting daily business with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Compare and evaluate offers from suppliers. 
  • Regular price comparison of existing and potential suppliers
    Research potential Vendors
  • Work closely with operations staff to ensure timely and efficient. 
    procuring and delivery targets are achieved.
  • Organising shipping & freight within Australia and Overseas
  • Inventory management and reconciliations and purchase order management
  • Maintaining and improving inventory accuracy within warehouse
  • Investigating & reporting on all stock discrepancies 
  • Completing stock take and cycle counts. 
  • Generate and provide inventory reports including stock on hand and stock location.
  • Can easily identity various audio, video and lighting equipment – preferred but not essential.
  • Other relevant duties as directed which may include travel.
  • Maintain the office taking into account Occupational, Health and Safety Regulations
  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to the maintenance of safe systems of work.
  • 3+ years of experience in an inventory management or purchasing role.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, superior problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills
