PROJECT DELIVERY LEAD / SITE MANAGER / LEAD INSTALLER – Pro Audio / Visual

$90,000 – $115,000 per year

Do you have experience in the commercial AV industry?  Are you fed up with being a small cog in a big machine?  Sick of doing the same installs over and over again?  Maybe you are ready to lead an installation but don’t get given the chance?  We might just have the role for you.

Factory Sound has been Victoria’s leading professional audio go-to for over 20 years, furnishing many of the best venues and touring acts with their PAs, Desks and Lighting.  We also do installs!  Our business is currently experiencing a massive growth spurt and we are looking for that special someone to add to the family.

Our install team is small but efficient, working in a highly agile manner to provide the best audio-visual solutions to our clients, across a range of industries.  We work closely with end clients to achieve bespoke solutions, providing simplicity and automation to the end user, without compromising on quality or delivery.

Our clients include Hospitality venues, Houses of Worship, Sporting Facilities to name a few.

Our office is based in South Melb, but we work all over Metro Melbourne and even Country VIC / interstate on occasion.

The Role:

PROJECT DELIVERY LEAD / SITE MANAGER / LEAD INSTALLER, you will be responsible for managing all on-site installation projects, from small single-day installs on your own, through to large, multi-month projects with a team of staff and contractors.  You will be primarily working on-site, installing and leading projects, whilst also undertaking some management duties of installers and subcontractors.  

Installing Line-Arrays or large PAs with flown Subs, LED Walls, High-end Projection, Lighting bars and rigs are just some of the more exciting fit-offs that you can expect.

This role will offer you the freedom and responsibility to make decisions on how things should be done, requiring self-motivation and acute problem-solving skills to keep things running smoothly.

The position is also key as the on-site “face” of our business to the trades/clients during fit-outs, you will manage these relationships and timelines to keep things running smoothly.

Managing & enforcing company OH&S, both before and when on site as well as organising Logistics, Access Equipment & other site requirements ahead of time, will be key to success in this role.

You will report to the Projects Department Manager and be accountable for project delivery.

Requirements:

– Have a high level of competency with tools, mounting methods, fixings and fasteners, enabling you to locate and install items in the safest and most appropriate fashion

  • Able to plan and achieve cabling pathways, looming, cable management and correct termination
  • Have direct and credible experience with terminating and fitting off relevant A/V connectors, including Ethercon, Cat 6A RJ45 etc
  • Be comfortable working at heights or in challenging environment
  • Experience in and around live construction site
  • Several years of On-Site Installation Experience in AV or Electrical
  • Construction Industry White card
  • Have or can obtain WWC
  • Good computer literacy – From Office 365 to audio and video control software or similar
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication


Additional advantageous skills/experience:

– EWP, Working at Heights Ticket

– First Aid Ticket

– QSYS, Crestron, or other DSP & Control system experience/knowledge

– Directly managed site rollouts of commercial AV systems

This position would suit:

– Someone currently working in AV Installations, but wants the opportunity to work for a smaller, dynamic team across a wide gamut of installation types

– Someone working as an AV Installer looking to further their site management, documentation, admin and management skills

– Someone working as an AV installer who is bored of “cookie cutter”, boring installations of simple items

– Someone who wants to be part of the design and decision-making process of AV installations, not just “on the tools.” 

– Someone who is used to, or capable of, wearing several hats and being able to work in small teams

– Someone who does not need / want to be ‘micromanaged’ – someone who loves to be challenged and allowed to form their own solutions.
