Productions and Events Technician (Fixed Term)

Fixed Term, Part time commencing August 2023

Hale School is Western Australia’s oldest independent boys’ school.  Located in the suburb of Wembley Downs, the current campus is situated on a magnificent 48 hectare site, approximately 13 kilometres to the north-west of Perth and two kilometres from the coast.

Hale School is now seeking expressions of interest for a skilled and experienced Productions and Events Technician to join our Events and Venues team.

Productions and Events Technician

The Productions and Events Technician is responsible for providing technical services as required, to support a wide range of events and productions at Hale School. Safe, high quality technical services are required for the School’s extensive programme of productions and performances in Music and Drama as well as in a wide range of other activities, exhibitions, assemblies and School community events.

The School campus has a range of purpose-built performance venues with two more spaces nearing completion. The Production and Events Technician will have practical experience and expertise in lighting and sound systems, control systems and relevant equipment and its maintenance. The Production and Events Technician will be enthusiastic, highly cooperative, collaborative and resourceful.  

Flexibility in working hours will be required to cover evening and weekend work as necessary by the events schedule.

The successful applicant will:

  • Work independently and collaboratively with the staff and students to build a welcoming culture of creativity and excellence in all school events.
  • Provide excellent technical support and operation for Performing and Creative Arts productions and School events.
  • Possess strong, proven experience in stage/production management and Audio-Visual design.
  • Demonstrate skills in lighting operation and design, which will be highly advantageous.
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance as required, for students and staff in the technical operation of audiovisual equipment and safety procedures.
  • Possess excellent IT and communication skills.
  • Contribute positively to a team environment and have excellent interpersonal skills, including a great sense of humour.
  • Be eligible to work in Western Australian schools. This will involve associated Police Clearances and a current Working with Children (WWC) Check.
  • Have obtained a WA White Card. EWP Ticket, Working at Heights and Riggers Ticket are also advantageous.
