Circa is hiring! Multiple production positions.
Circa presents over 400 performances a year of contemporary circus in up to 16 countries. The productions range from two acrobats and a musician in a children’s show to 10 performers on stage to a number of Circa acrobats with 100 local performers in an immersive outdoor setting. Due to the level of work and the increasing size and complexity of the productions we are looking to expand our pool of technical staff, of all disciplines.
Key details
- Employment basis: flexible with short, medium or long-term contracts available for the right candidate.
- These roles involve working outside the normal office hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Our projects require frequent travel. They happen in Brisbane, around Australia and across the world.

Roles available
Production Manager
A Production Manager at Circa leads our technical and logistical delivery on tour.
This is not a one size fits all position. Your tasks will vary according to your particular skill set and the requirements of a given production or project. In this role you will liaise with local crew to install staging and set and to adapt show specific lighting. Often you will operate lights, audio or video systems and may be responsible for the installation of circus rigging.
You work as part of a small team delivering our performances in a wide range of venues. No two days will be the same. The one constant is, you will be working with a team of performers and staff who are all striving to present the safest and most technically perfect version of a performance no matter the location.
Duties include:
- Pre production
- liaising with venues and crews across the world to develop and adapt schedules and technical plans
- On Tour
- Production management including overseeing load in and load out; reworking of sound, lights, AV and overseeing rigging.
- Operating sound, lights or AV in Circa’s performances
- Participating in Circa touring company life, processes and celebrations.
- Special Projects
- Working on special projects, creative developments, new company initiatives
The role sees you using your skills and expertise to ensure our shows are delivered with technical, logistical and safety excellence throughout the world. This is a busy and complex role, requiring significant attention to detail and creative problem solving.
Touring Technicians
There are a wide range of opportunities for technicians on a casual basis. Engagements range from one week to several months in Australia or internationally. Opportunities arise in all disciplines rigging /staging, lighting, sound and AV.
