1. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The production department manages the production and technical requirements for each of the venues and events run by Century Group. The department consists of 3 senior positions, Technical Manager, Production HR Manager and Production Manager. The three positions work closely together to deliver outcomes for the group’s venues, events and projects identified by senior management. This role is servicing The Concourse Performing Arts Centre in Chatswood.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
· Develop and manage production/technical requirements including; scheduling, operations and logistical requirements in accordance with Century Venues procedures and policies to achieve the successful delivery of events
· Create, manage and control budgets (expenses) for the staging of all events/activities and to ensure that all necessary production equipment, materials and any other expenses are within allocated budget
· Ensure that venue resources (labour and assets) are used in the most efficient and financially prudent way possible by maximising internal use of equipment and recovering labour costs whenever possible
· Manage team of Production Coordinators. Assigning work evenly and advise team on strategies to deliver high levels of service and seek opportunities to increase revenues.
· Develop and manage Standard Operating Procedures and associated workflows for the team of Production Coordinators
· Advance and assist the advance of complex event production requirements
· Quote and assist in winning new opportunities and conduct site inspections
· Train and develop production coordinators skills and knowledge
· Maximising revenue and profit for the department.
· Assist during periods of heavy events administratively and in the field
· Work with the Technical Manager and HR Manager on delivering the highest possible standards to our clients and patrons.
3. ORGANISATION RELATIONSHIPS
Reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer
Liaises with Heads of Department
Liaises and advises Senior Century Management
4. ACCOUNTABILITY
The position is accountable to the Chief Operating Officer
The position will have the following reviewable KPI’s:
· Staff satisfaction and productivity
· Meeting budgeted amounts for technical production sales and gross profit margins
· A maximum of 3 client complaints per year and an expectation that positive client responses out way negative by a factor of 3
5. EXTENT OF AUTHORITY
Work autonomously. Make decisions with regards to staff management, promotion, training and dismissal. Liaise and negotiate with clients as required and make financial decisions that result from those negotiations. Supervise fulltime staff to ensure that client and event requirements are met and make changes to ensure the best productivity and financial outcomes.
6. JUDGEMENT AND DECISION-MAKING
The position is expected to exercise high levels of knowledgeable judgment. This position has a high level of decision making with the Technical department being able to run autonomously under the leadership of the Production Manager whilst however strictly following established systems and procedures those procedures
7. SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
· Extensive experience in operation of Audio, Lighting or Stage Management.
· Good general knowledge of all aspects of technical production and keeping that knowledge current with industry standards and practices.
· Proven ability in the management and supervision of technical staff,
· Proven, knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures and best practise within the industry

Demonstrated and proven track-record in the following:
· Time management and delegation.
· Operational effectiveness. Managing a department to maximise the best and most efficient use of labour and equipment resources.
· Financial acumen. Running a department on budget and meeting budget targets.

10. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES
Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a theatre, production company or related industry is considered necessary.
11. SELECTION CRITERIA
Criteria based on items 7 to 10 above.
12. SALARY
Negotiable. $95,000 to $105,000 pending experience
