Mona is seeking an experienced Production Manager to work with our brilliant team to deliver the Museum of Old and New Art’s Festival of Music and Art (Mona Foma) in January 2022.
The role is responsible for the planning and implementation of all production and site aspects of the Mona Foma program and holds people leadership and stakeholder relationship accountabilities. Alongside team and manager collaboration, the Production Manager will also connect and work with Mona’s shared services functions to manage logistics, risk and safety, operations, site, staffing, and compliance for the festival.
THE GIG:
- Manage and implement production and site requirements of festival projects and events (including planning, management, scheduling production, and technical support services, legislation, personnel, and facilities);
- In conjunction with relevant festival personnel, develop and maintain the Production Schedule, Event Schedule, Event Management Plan, and Event Permit Applications, as required;
- Provide detailed production advice to festival personnel in respect of events, venues, logistics, and costs throughout development stages;
- Ensure the development of accurate site plans and manage permit requirements for various sites as required by the venues, councils, and other stakeholders;
- Develop, monitor, and manage an approved production budget, providing regular reports to senior management;
- Recruit and manage production staff, contractors, and internal secondments, working across music, visual art, theatre, dance, and live art;
- Ensure compliance by all staff and contractors with relevant Workplace Health and Safety legislation and Mona policies, including COVID-19;
- In collaboration with the Technical Manager, ensure production and logistical resources, infrastructure, and services as required;
- Liaise with companies, freight agents, and other providers regarding all aspects of the transport of touring equipment;
- Manage the design, delivery, and installation of festival signage in conjunction with the communications and broader production teams;
- Collate data for post-event reporting;
- Assist with the implementation of plans and objectives in line with the Event’s overall vision and artistic goals;
- Participate in continuous improvement activities, conducting regular assessments of processes, and incorporating learning into development plans.
THE YOU:
- Relevant experience leading a production team in a major festival context;
- Confident and experienced in simultaneously managing numerous complex and diverse projects;
- Experience in production management of arts presentations spanning music, visual art, theatre, and dance;
- Strong interpersonal skills in developing productive relationships with stakeholders, contractors, artists, companies, venues, and arts industry partners;
- Excellent negotiation skills and background in negotiating contractual arrangements and supplier deals;
- Successful track record of establishing accurate, informative budgets for complex projects;
- Competent in managing the logistics of productions associated with the delivery of a major arts festival;
- Collaborative and flexible approach to problem-solving and information sharing;
- Demonstrated organisational ability – must be able to work with a range of industries and stakeholders;
- High-level competence using IT, including Word, Excel, and database programs;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
