Production Manager

Do you have a background in stage, theatre, or event production and a passion for delivering high-quality productions?

Opera Queensland is seeking a Production Manager to contribute to the creation and delivery of our performance and events program across metro, regional and remote Queensland.

About the Role

Opera Queensland is an innovative arts organisation whose vision is to grow a community connected by the transformative power of opera.

The production team plays an important role in delivering the artistic vision of the organisation. 

Reporting to the Director of Technical Production, the Production Manager is a new role that will provide production, project and/or event management support across activities ranging from live performance presentations, functions and events to outdoor presentations. 

The Production Manager will collaborate with production and technical teams to deliver larger productions and be responsible for end-to-end delivery of all technical production and logistics for smaller productions.

Experience, qualifications and attributes

  • Relevant experience in a technical production environment including experience in a live theatre and events.
  • Knowledge of stagecraft, theatre production and scenic construction, rigging, automation, lighting, video, sound and projection.
  • Understanding of the work and operations in production workshops, transport, logistics and storage.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills including creative/lateral thinking and the ability to interpret non-technical requests into technical specification information.
  • Understanding of WHS policies and procedures and a commitment to prioritise and safeguard the health and safety of everyone in the workplace.
  • Experience of touring productions and outdoor presentations desirable.
