Production Manager

Brisbane Powerhouse is Queensland’s home of contemporary culture. With more than 1,250 performances and events each year, we are one of the busiest arts venues in the Asia-Pacific region. We offer a year-round program featuring events across comedy, music, theatre, Writers+Ideas, dance, film, visual arts, cabaret, and circus.

We help create events and experiences that couldn’t exist anywhere else, including the adrenaline rush of festivals, outstanding dining experiences, and the joy of witnessing a great performance. Our building is the hero of our story, with audiences and artists intersecting at its heart.

To enable us to do produce such events and experiences we are looking for an exceptional Production Manager to be part of our Technical Team.

Here’s a snapshot of your day:

Our mission is to create a sense of wonder and joy for Brisbane’s people, and as one of the team, there will be no such thing as a typical day!  One week it might be a live performance, another week an art installation. However, on a day-to-day basis, the role will involve:

  • Provide production management across a range of activities taking place within or on behalf of the Brisbane Powerhouse annual program
  • Coordinate, manage and implement all technical, operational and venue specific logistical requirements
  • Creative liaison with a range of artists, promoters, and corporate clients, presenting realistic parameters and opportunities to realise projects and events for hirers, commissioned and developed works within or for the Brisbane Powerhouse
  • Ensure all work is carried out following the obligations detailed in the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Assist independent companies to develop documentation such as technical information, schedules, and risk assessments
  • Contribute to ensuring the provision of a safe and effective venue for all staff, theatrical and event clients, patrons, and members of the public visiting Brisbane Powerhouse
  • Contribute to the development of operational and technical manuals for the Technical Services department to continually grow and improve working practices
  • In conjunction with the Senior Production Manager and other Technical Services staff, assist in building and maintaining an efficient, skilled, and motivated casual staff base to fulfil Brisbane Powerhouse’s production requirements
  • Ensure casual production staff remain customer focused with attention to detail and delivery.

Can we inspire you to join us?

There’s very little that can beat the excitement and joy of a live performance, festival, or art installation – except being part of the team that makes them all happen.  We’re a dynamic team that is passionate about our mission to further the Brisbane arts scene and be good stewards to a building that has had so many different lives and touched so many people.  The role brings a variety of experiences that are difficult to match in this city, and we look forward to hearing from you.

To apply, please upload your resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role in direct relation to the position description.

This role will close at 5 pm on Monday 8th November 2021.  To view the full position description, please visit our Employment Page.
