ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all production elements of Strut & Fret’s projects, ensuring successful delivery on schedule and on budget. Collaborating closely with the management team, this role provides vital input and expertise in scheduling, resourcing, and budget planning.
The Production Manager works closely with the Creative Director when shows are in creative development, they will need flair as well as problem solving to realise the vision of the Creative Director and Designers.
Additionally, the Production Manager supervises the seamless presentation of external productions and events held at Strut & Fret’s venues, collaborating with organisers and co-presenters to achieve successful outcomes while nurturing positive relationships with external stakeholders.
This role oversees the management of all production personnel, including casual and contracted workers, to ensure adequate resourcing and effective management of wage budgets, while actively fostering a safe, fair, and inclusive work environment.
This role would suit an experienced and established production/technical professional with expertise in the performing arts, strong knowledge of the Australian theatre industry, and excellent interpersonal skills with a talent for managing a team to success under pressure and to deadline.

ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have experience in theatrical productions and touring, demonstrating a good working knowledge of the management and maintenance of theatre productions. You will be great at finding creative solutions to problems, be a collaborative worker and have a positive, can -do attitude. You will have a proactive approach to change with the ability to work alongside a team and collaborate with key stakeholders with a sense of urgency. Strategic thinking, the ability to explore new ways of working and an open mind around how we can drive the company forward and deliver unrivalled productions will be highly advantageous.
Flexibility to work a varied roster including regular interstate travel, late evenings, weekends and public holidays in order to support the operation alongside holding Australian work rights is also a must.
Whilst not essential, an ideal candidate would also have good knowledge of circus rigging, QLAB, Lighting Programming, and Audio mixing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide day to day management of all technical requirements of Strut & Fret productions
· In consultation with the Event team, effectively plan and develop production requirements for the Strut & Fret events providing detailed event and venue logistics, venue plans and quotes as requested, and offering solutions and exploring options to deliver successful events
· Participate in budget management for production activity ensuring that events and specific productions are delivered within the allocated budget
· Negotiate and manage contracts for suppliers
· Ensure venue requirements (legal, statutory and WHS) are met and communication to all staff and suppliers
· Realise the creative team’s vision and manage all technical requirements for delegated productions in a timely, efficient, safe and cost-effective manner
· Oversee and support the manufacture and maintenance of sets, props, costumes and additional content, ensuring they are completed within budget and with the required certification.
· Arrange and oversee sound, lighting, vision and automation requirements for productions, including managing quoting and contracting requirements.
· Develop high level plans for season and production logistics, including transportation, bump-in, bump-out and storage.
· Schedule and lead production meetings and de-briefs as required and document outcomes
· Manage technical support for sponsorship, publicity and marketing events connected to delegated productions, and ensure they meet safety requirements.
· Produce and distribute a detailed production schedules for the effective and timely delivery of all projects and events
· Source, engage and manage casual production staff and contractors as required to deliver events
· Co-ordinate and manage load ins and load outs including staff resourcing and scheduling
· Generate and review risk management planning for the events including but not limited to Workplace Health & Safety
· Ensure the on-time delivery of all performances in all venues through effective resource management and coordination
· Provide production support for the events including after-hours response as required
· Ensure all work generated is documented accurately and concisely, including operations manuals, production schedules, staff rosters, and reports.
· Build, maintain and extend positive and professional relationships with presenters, artists, artistic teams, crew and event partners
· Understand, follow and implement all Work, Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices
