PRODUCTION MANAGER

Experience Gold Coast

On 1 September 2023, HOTA has joined Experience Gold Coast, a super entity which combined HOTA, Study Gold Coast, Destination Gold Coast, Placemakers* and Major Events Gold Coast in an exciting new chapter that will see the city’s tourism, events, education, arts and culture portfolios working as one organisation focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for the city. 

The Position

The Production Manager works across an annual program of activities and is accountable for the facilitation of production, technical and event practicalities and requirements.

In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Senior Production Manager and act as the main point of contact for all event, technical and production requirements from pre-planning through to staging. You will draw from your experience of working in the arts, bring your motivation to support the realisation of creative endeavour and harness your flexible, can-do, respectful attitude to help deliver strong client relationships through your ongoing contact with a broad cross section of HOTA’s presenting companies, corporate hirers and internal stakeholders.

The Production Manager interprets and communicates artistic requirements and translates them into cost effective technical solutions and clear articulate event documentation.

The Production Manager will work with colleagues in the Programming and Presenter Services department to ensure that the delivery of projects exceeds expectations and cements the Precinct’s reputation as an exciting and supportive environment for the realisation and presentation of creative endeavors.

The responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:?

  • Undertake the production management function to provide effective and influential leadership of the technical planning process for safe and efficient event delivery, ensuring the hirers needs are met in line with artistic and business needs, using existing business tools.
  • Develop and maintain proactive working relationships with key stakeholders and service providers to balance competing needs and achieve operational objectives.
  • Provide guidance to, and from time-to-time mentor, junior presenter services team members.
  • Follow best practice and actively contribute to departmental and organisational projects, initiatives, and strategic direction. Develop and implement procedures and standards aimed at continuous improvement maintaining an effective operational interface between HOTA departments and hirers.
  • Facilitate and manage the provision of third-party services to events at HOTA as required.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated production management experience in a technical production environment including experience in a live theatre and events.
  • Project management skills including demonstrated organisational, time management and prioritisation skills, and the ability to manage several events simultaneously, meet strict deadlines and forward plan in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills including creative/lateral thinking and the ability to interpret non-technical requests into technical specification information.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing event production budgets.
  • An ability to build and develop effective working relationships and with the ability to promote interdepartmental cohesion.
