We have an opportunity for an experienced, organised and hands-on Production Manager (3 days per week) to join our team at Light!
The role:
Reporting to the CEO you will be responsible for the management and setup of production requirements in The Lab and event spaces. This includes rostering, artist liaison and overseeing maintenance activities for technical equipment.
The Production Manager will lead the venues team in all elements of delivering high-quality programming experiences for artists and patrons.
Responsibilities include:
- Liaise with artists regarding the required technical elements of their show.
- Lead the technical staff to deliver production, venue logistics and set up requirements for events and programming.
- Ensuring all technical infrastructure is maintained and operating at the highest possible standard.
- Coordinate and maintain excellent relationships with external production contractors, artists, festivals and other stakeholders.
- Rostering technical staff to meet the demands of scheduling
- Coordinate the bump in and bump out of the artists
- Approve technical staffs timesheets for payroll
- Coordinate recruitment and training requirements of Technical staff
- Take an active role in WHS, ensuring any relevant issues are resolved
Essential Criteria:
- A working knowledge of technical production and the performing arts/music sector
- Demonstrated experience in leading the production aspects of events/shows including staff and crews.
- Proven ability to plan, organise, set priorities and manage time so that organisation resources are optimised.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to think laterally and creatively
- Advanced IT literacy
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritise and meet competing deadlines
- Capacity and willingness to work outside of normal business hours as required
Desirable criteria:
- Previous experience working in a music venue, festivals, events or theatre in a production or operations role.
- Previous experience in staging or sound is desirable but not essential
- Tertiary qualifications in arts production, technical operations or appropriate industry experience.
