Production Designer

Position Description

The Production Designer is a full-time, salaried position based in Mandylights’ Sydney Office. Reporting to the Managing / Creative Director, this role is a multi-faceted position that reflects the company’s strong belief in designing and producing outstanding creative designs that are practical, adhere to budgets and grounded in reality at all times of the production process.

The position requires strong, constant collaboration with other members of the creative and production teams to identify, develop and execute designs across a wide range of traditional and non-traditional disciplines – everything from concert tours and theatre designs through to light artworks and government or private-sector lead activations and experiential environments.

Mandylights works extensively overseas with suppliers, clients and colleagues spanning multiple time zones. Flexibility in working hours is important, as is the position’s requirement to be able to identify and work with suppliers and other partners all over the world.

Recognising that no two designers are alike, Mandylights believes in working closely with the production designer to identify their skillset and passions and adapt the role accordingly with the ability to skew the role between design, development and delivery to best suit the needs of the individual and the business. Consideration can be made for designers with the potential to bring their own projects and clients into the company, and Mandylights hopes to recruit staff who see the benefits of both full-time employment along with the significant production, technical and administrative resources that the company has to offer. Mandylights hosts considerable resources and an enviable folio of work that would be available to the Production Designer to generate new work and further their own career. The company prides itself on being open to adapt and grow by utilising the talents of individual team members to work in new areas or for new clients when opportunities arise.
