Melbourne’s Wesley College has a stunning new Recital Hall designed by Cox Architects with architectural lighting by Light Project.
The walls of the Recital Hall are designed to aid sound proofing and Light Project were commissioned to add colour, light and dynamic to these walls.
The acoustic panels step in and out from the base wall in a diamond arrangement. Between some of the panels are channels which are backlit by LED RGB tape. Not only does the LED RGB tape dress up what would be a rather plain wall, it also provides light and colour and thus a more vibrant space.
The Pro Shop RGB LED Tape is by far the easiest way to provide a colour changing touch to pelmets, undersides of furniture edges, in fact anywhere you have limited space and wish to create a bright and saturated glow. The latest in TriColour SMD LED technology is used to ensure an even and vibrant output that allows you to find desirable shades of between rich primaries and subtle pastels.
“With no actual performance lighting in the space the architectural lighting was very important,” commented Tom Curtis, Sales Manager for Light Projects.
Lighting states were programmed onto ELC AC612 DMX wall panels so that students can change colour combinations to compliment whatever performance is taking place.
“The students can use a standard piece of software on their laptops to program the lighting, transfer it onto a USB and into the ELC 612 DMX wall panel,” added Tom. “Simple!”
The ELC AC612 range of controls provides simple DMX scene capture and recall functions. The range includes control panels with faders or push buttons, and a DIN rail mounted version. The compact design, comprehensive programming options, and uncomplicated controls make the AC612 range ideal for architectural lighting control applications, as well as small scale lighting controls for drama and video studios.
