Staging Connections Sydney has invested in a dozen ShowPro PixPads to add a new and exciting dimension to their events.
“We wanted something a little bit theatrical that gave bang and impact,” commented Sam Rollston, National Asset Manager at Staging Connections. “We have a lot of bands play at our gala dinners and we wanted something to compliment that side of the business. Eye- candy is a great word for them!”
Staging Connections’ Lighting Designer Rocco Anzellotti added that he is always looking for something different to give new looks to their clients when buying lighting equipment.
“The way lighting is evolving today most people have seen a moving light that can swing about, change colours and has different gobos,” he said. “We have enough of these fixtures so I look for a product that can give us something else.”
Whilst providing high levels of light output so it can be used as a standard wash type fixture, the PixPad supplies even colour across all of the pixels which you have individual control over. With individual control of each RGB pixel, when placed together in quantities, allows users to even scroll text and advanced colour chases. There is also a large number of on-board programs which can run in stand-alone mode to ensure a simple and quick set up when required.
“The Pix Pads were the perfect solution,” remarked Rocco. “I like the idea of doing more visual looks than just lighting a stage or performance. The PixPad does a great job of not only being easy to rig, but also easy to control giving the lighting people an easy solution where setup times are always under pressure. The variety of effects and colours you can do with them is fantastic. I like the design of the product which in itself looks interesting with the sunken cones of LEDS. Also as a video wall solution is really out of our price range, these lights give us the ability to do simple video and mapped looks on a large scale but still at a great price point.”
Rocco concludes that with the popularity of the fixtures increasing, he can only see them buying more.
