Pixera Delivers for WorldPride Event

Held at Sydney Town Hall, Ultra Violet was the premier event for LGBTQIA+ women during Sydney WorldPride. The party celebrated the raw creativity of women including burlesque, performance art, visual art, cabaret and drag kings which were backed by some of the most prolific queer-talent dishing out house, electro-pop, ballroom, rap/hip-hop and disco.

Innovative Production Services looked after creative direction, production management and equipment supply across all three stages of the event. Supplementing Town Hall’s in-house rig in Centennial Hall, Innovative supplied Martin VDO Sceptron, while Paul Collison of elevenDESIGN was tasked with looking after the overall visual look of Centennial Hall which included media servers.“It was good to know that we had a media server that was reliable and quick to program,” commented Jeremy Koch, managing director of IPS. “That was one of the most important aspects, as we didn’t have a lot of programming time.”

PC says that Pixera had his attention from the moment he got his first demo in 2018. He loves the simplistic interface that hides a very comprehensive video delivery system underneath.

“When we first started talking about Ultra Violet, I knew I’d want Pixera to control it,” commented PC. “I know there are probably more appropriate bits of software for doof-doofs, but Pixera’s inbuilt effects and integration with DMX control made it all snap together very easily.”

PC ran a single instance of Pixera player on his new shoebox-sized Show Technology built server with an A4000 card inside.

“We had a 4k output raster that split up to a 2×2 (four of HD outputs) across four projectors,” explained PC. “We had a 90-minute piece of content supplied by World Pride that we looped all night in between the acts that we ran inbuilt Pixera effects over. For the acts, we ran a combination of stock loops with different effects all triggered from our grandMA3 Session jointly controlling lights and video.”The complete lighting and vision system included the following equipment:
