A new collaboration between integrated solutions provider bluebottle and Pharos Architectural Controls has played a key role in the launch of Flight Club, Melbourne.
Located in the heart of the bustling Australian city’s Central Business District, Flight Club owners NightOwl Entertainment have transformed a two-storey heritage building into a quirky and uplifting entertainment venue with fairground-inspired interiors.
The inviting and imaginative venue requires lighting to bring it to life and enhance the visitor experience. To deliver the control elements of the lighting, bluebottle specified a system from Pharos, combining a one-universe Pharos Designer LPC (Lighting Playback Controller) and a Pharos Designer RIO A (Remote Input Output Audio).
Having collaborated on a number of previous projects, bluebottle understood the capabilities of Pharos solutions, and recognised them as the ideal technology for Flight Club’s requirements.
The LPC is an award-winning, all-in-one control solution for themed entertainment and LED lighting installations featuring individually controllable and independently running timelines and scenes that allow you to build dynamic, precise, fully customisable pre-programmed lighting effects with the freedom of real-time manual overrides and the versatility of powerful show control and integration features. With a compact form and minimal power requirements, the LPC can be installed almost anywhere.

The RIO A provides a convenient and scalable way to add audio integration to a Pharos Designer system. It has an audio input, supporting linear timecode or up to 30 band spectrum analysis, as well as a MIDI input and output. Each device can be placed where it is needed and connected to Pharos Designer controllers over an Ethernet network.
The system from Pharos is providing dynamic and cutting-edge lighting control to several key areas across the venue. As well as controlling the general lighting, the technology is also providing control for the colour fixtures and integration to the dartboard areas.
Tony Symms, Regional Sales Manager for Asia Pacific at Pharos said: “Flight Club is a fun and lively venue, and the lighting plays a huge part in every guest’s experience, adding to the atmosphere, particularly around the dartboards.
“The LPC and RIO A from Pharos is providing optimum lighting control to create an exciting and engaging night out at Flight Club.”
Christopher Caruana, General Manager at bluebottle added: “At bluebottle, we strive to deliver seamless and innovative solutions, and our collaboration with Pharos Architectural Controls at Flight Club Melbourne was no exception. The LPC and RIO A from Pharos provided the perfect combination of dynamic lighting control and seamless integration, enhancing the venue’s vibrant atmosphere. Thanks to Pharos’ powerful and flexible technology, we were able to bring Flight Club’s playful and immersive lighting vision to life, alongside a collaborative team, ensuring an unforgettable experience for guests.”
Melbourne’s Flight Club venue is the fourth location in the entertainment brand’s portfolio, joining the already opened sites in Sydney, Perth and Fremantle.
