About the position:

The QPT & Events Technical Officer position ensures the provision of a professional technical service for events at the theatre and other City-owned venues. The position is responsible for ensuring the effective management and operation of all technical aspects of the Queens Park Theatre, for stage management and for implementing procedures that ensure all back of house technical, operational, safety and maintenance tasks are met.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide specialist technical advice to the City’s Queens Park Theatre and events to ensure the delivery of high-quality planning, preparation and implementation of planned shows at QPT, annual Civic and community events across the City of Greater Geraldton. 
  • Operate and maintain the technical equipment at the Queens Park Theatre including supervising the use of lighting and audio equipment, communications equipment and the use and ongoing maintenance of stage equipment.
  • Design, set up, operate and maintain lighting and audio technical equipment for dance, theatre, music and performing arts productions.
  • Supervise and assist stakeholders and other technical employees with stage set up and stage management.

Position requirements:

Advanced Diploma (or higher) in a field of study relevant to a technical role in a performing arts theatre, or a lesser qualification with substantial experience. Substantial experience in stage management and a sound knowledge of manual handling techniques and ICT (streaming of live events & basics of networking) are essential for this position.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $81,618 per annum or $41.3046 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
