Scotch Oakburn College is seeking a talented and experienced Performing Arts Technician to join our team on a casual basis. In this versatile role, you will provide technical support and stage management for a variety of performing arts productions and events, including assemblies, concerts, plays, and school performances. What you’ll be doing
- Operate and maintain sound, lighting, and staging equipment for performances and events
- Collaborate with directors, producers, and performers to ensure technical elements enhance the overall production
- Set up, test, and troubleshoot technical equipment prior to performances and assemblies
- Provide technical support and guidance to students and the Performing Arts team involved in productions
- Assist with the loading, unloading, and transportation of equipment and materials
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the performance space, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to equipment and technical operations
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated experience in a similar technical or stage management role within the performing arts industry
- Strong working knowledge of sound, lighting, and stage equipment, including their operation and maintenance
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of students, performers, directors, and production staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide technical guidance and support
- Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of a dynamic performing arts environment
- Relevant qualifications or training in technical theatre, stage management, or a related field
