The role of Performing Arts Technician is to provide support to the Performing Arts and Music faculties from a technical aspect to deliver programs and performances at key school events. The role works closely with the Learning Area Leader, The Arts, music staff and co-curricular coordinators to ensure programs and events are delivered professionally and efficiently.
Position purpose
The Performing Arts Technician will be responsible for the provision of audio, video, lighting, staging and other technical support across the School and Community facilities. The Technician will attend to the smooth operating and use of the equipment located across the Campus, in specific the King’s Community Auditorium and School Theatre. This includes the oversight of storage, care and maintenance of all technical equipment.
Working within the Administration Team, the role requires effective communication with staff, students and families to promote and serve the King’s community through exceptional customer service.
Essential Criteria:

- Demonstrated understanding of the performing arts and music environment
- Lighting design, rigging, plotting and operation experience.
- Experienced sound and audio-visual technician.
- Knowledge of safe operating procedures relevant to a performing arts environment.
- Working knowledge of WHS requirements relating to the performing arts environment
- Ability to present a professional, personable and knowledgeable image to prospective and existing parents, students and the wider school community.
- Ability to lead and work in teams, setting goals and providing feedback.
- High level of discretion and a core understanding of professionalism and confidentiality within the workplace.
- Ability to empathise with and manage the complex demands of a school environment.
- Ability to show initiative and be adaptive.
- Work cohesively in a team environment as well as working autonomously where required.
- Represent the school and its wider community by providing a positive, enthusiastic and professional support and customer service environment.
Salary will be in line with qualifications and experience and based on the King’s Baptist Grammar School Enterprise Agreement 2018 General Staff salary schedule.
