Performing Arts Centre Trainee

Position No. T2

Temporary Full-time (up to 12 months)

Remuneration in accordance with National Training Award.

Undertake a Certificate in Arts and Culture Administration whilst gaining hands-on experience

The Wedge Performing Arts Centre, located in Sale, Victoria is an award-winning contemporary cultural hub for performing arts and entertainment, complete with a 390- seat theatre, 50-seat black box studio, café and dining facilities, function and rehearsal rooms. The Centre presents in excess of 150 events each year of very diverse local, professional and community programming, with attendance of over 50,000 annually.

We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an enthusiastic individual to undertake a temporary full-time traineeship at The Wedge Performing Arts Centre commencing in February 2023.

In this role, you will support a fast-paced and high-performing team while undertaking an array of duties and responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Assistance with event and theatre production logistics.
  • Providing visitors with show information and front-of-house ticket sales.
  • Providing assistance with production rehearsals for locally based shows.
  • Assistance with social media, graphic design and marketing communication for The Wedge.
  • General arts administration.

This traineeship offers invaluable industry experience in conjunction with undertaking a Certificate in Arts and Culture Administration qualification and is an ideal entry-level opportunity for individuals considering a career in the Arts industry.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate how they meet the key selection criteria below:

  • A desire to gain experience in and exposure to the performing arts industry.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Computer savvy and proficient in using social media platforms.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of people.
  • Reliable and have the demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team in a fast-changing environment.
