Pathways NFP Reduces Everyone’s Workload

Designed to be used in conjunction with Pathways DMX over Ethernet nodes the Pathway Network Fade Processor (NFP) generates reliable DMX512 output from Crestron and AMX Control Systems. Connecting to the network via a standard POE connection the NFP takes over the responsibility of calculating fades thus lowering the main controllers work load.

As to how it all works well firstly the controller sends an ASCII text string via unicast UDP to port 3793 of the NFP. The NFP then converts the command to Pathport Protocol x DMX and broadcasts the channel levels back onto the network. Any connected Pathport node patched to these channel assignments will now de-code the signal and output the appropriate DMX levels to the downstream devices.

Each NFP can deliver 1024 channels of DMX non contiguously from a range of 64 possible DMX universes to an unlimited number of connected Pathport nodes. For larger installations it is possible to have multiple NFP’s operation on the same network and each NFP can manage up to 1024 simultaneous fades so every channel can be discretely controlled at the same time. The Pathway NFP handles all fade algorithms and ensures the DMX refresh rate is maintained for smooth operation of all connected devices.

Valid fade times are from 0-8 hours delineated in milliseconds for precise control. Pathway even provides a Windows based program that demonstrates the required syntax for commands and acts as a test source. There are two models available being the 6229 surface mount version in the familiar Pathway D series enclosure and the 6239 R series style 1RU rack mount version.

So the next time the question of integrating the DMX controlled lighting system with the Crestron or AMX controllers arises let Pathway step in and reduce the workload for the contractor and controller alike.
