Central Highlands Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Technician to join our newly created Regional Entertainment Venues Team.
As Operations Technician you will be responsible for providing effective and efficient technical and operational support to various venue users such as community groups, schools, community members and touring shows all whilst maintaining excellent customer service.
The successful applicant will be a creative individual with great time management, problem solving and communication skills. You will be committed to a high level of service and excellent event delivery for audiences and clients.
The successful applicant for this position will be required to occasionally work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends) as well as an on-call roster to cater for the needs and operation of councils entertainment programming.

In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:
- Maintain a full working knowledge of all council’s venues technical / production equipment and facilities.
- Provide technical support and advice and resolve technical issues for all venue users.
- Maintain equipment asset registers ensuring all items are catalogued and reviewed annually.
- Ensure all equipment is well maintained, serviced and stored appropriately. Manage all maintenance and repairs of the venues technical / production infrastructure. This involves undertaking and implementing maintenance schedules for technical / production equipment.
- Liaise with venue users to understand and negotiate technical requirements of incoming events to the venues.
- Assistance with the setup and delivery of functions and events where required.
- Work collaboratively and maintain strong and productive relationships with venue stakeholders by meeting service level requirements, deadlines and agreed expectations.
- Assist the Supervisor in preparing venue operation training plans and procedures. Maintain and present opportunities for improvements where possible.
- Respond to general customer enquires regarding the venues, technical operations and services provided by the Regional Entertainment Venues team.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:
- Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers licence.
- Audio, Visual or Production Qualifications or equivalent experience attained through previous appointments.
- Working at Heights, or ability to obtain.
- Relevant experience and knowledge of maintaining and operating lighting, stage, mechanical and AV systems with demonstrated experience in problem solving to effectively address technical matters for stage productions and/or entertainment venues.
- Ability to work autonomously with little direct supervision, multitask and remain calm in stressful situations and capability to effectively plan and manage work schedules across multiple venues.
- Ability to work at heights and be physically capable of undertaking lifting and operation of tools and equipment.
- Good customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with all relevant stakeholders.
- Ability to be flexible around working times including the ability to work outside normal business hours when required.
- Proficient computer skills and sound experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.
- Willingness to learn new skills in technical and production areas.
