Circus Centre Melbourne is seeking an Operations & Rigging Coordinator to support a safe, welcoming and well-managed circus space.

Circus Centre Melbourne is a new creative circus hub in Melbourne on Wurundjeri Country, led by the Flying Fruit Fly Circus, Australia’s National Youth Circus and the country’s only full-time circus school for young people aged 8–19. This new venture combines world-class circus training with academic education to create opportunities for young people and artists to thrive.
We’re looking for an Operations & Rigging Coordinator to help make Circus Centre Melbourne a safe, welcoming, and well-managed space. In this role, you’ll ensure our training environments are safe and fully equipped, oversee rigging and equipment, and provide excellent support to staff, visiting artists and companies.
Position: Operations & Rigging Coordinator Location: Circus Centre Melbourne, 35 Johnston St, Collingwood VIC 3066 Hours: 25 – 30 hrs/week (to be finalised before an appointment), Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm.Remuneration: $60,000 – $63,000 pro-rata per annum, commensurate with experience, plus Superannuation and all entitlements Term: 2 years with the possibility to become ongoing, preferred start date mid-September 2025.
What will you be doing, exactly?
You’ll be:
- Championing a culture of safety and care, ensuring every training session runs in line with best-practice standards and risk management principles.
- Creating a seamless experience on the training floor, so artists, trainers, and participants feel supported and confident.
- Driving operational excellence, from maintaining equipment integrity to coordinating smooth transitions between programs and bookings.
- Enhancing the artist and participant experience, through professional, friendly, and responsive customer service.
- Supporting the success of CCM programs and events, ensuring spaces and equipment are ready for world-class training and performance development.
You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:
- Technical rigging expertise (intermediate or above).
- A proven commitment to safety and risk management, with the confidence to lead safe training environments and respond effectively to incidents.
- Hands-on experience in circus or circus education, including rigging, aerial apparatus operation, or equipment management.
- A keen eye for detail and proactive problem-solving, especially when conducting safety checks or maintaining equipment standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional, approachable style that builds trust and confidence.
- The ability to juggle admin with action, using strong digital skills to maintain accurate records while keeping things running smoothly on the floor.
