Operations Coordinator, Opera Australia

Temporary Full-time Contract, Monday 14 September 2015 to Monday 9 May 2016

Opera Australia is Australia’s national opera company, presenting some fourteen operas annually in a repertory environment, musicals, regional tours, outdoor events and concerts. As Australia’s largest performing arts organisation, the company presents close to 700 performances annually across its diverse operations.

Opera Australia is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Operations Coordinator to work with Opera Australia’s Major Projects department with focus on Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour 2016.

The Major Projects team is responsible for the development and implementation of large scale projects, including Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour and Opera on the Beach.

The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the delivery of operations for production and the site/venue during construction and performance timeframes, including the operational requirements for technical production, site design and the construction and dismantle of the site structures.

The role will predominantly work on Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour 2016, however the team will be producing other exciting projects in 2016 so the Operations Coordinator will play a part in these.

To apply, you will have proven experience in event or production operations, including experience reading site plans and layouts and knowledge and understanding of safe work practices.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a polite and professional manner and be a team player who is self-motivated and shows initiative.

You will demonstrate organisation and administrative skills including competency across Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and use of databases and have the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.  A flexible attitude to duties/responsibilities and working hours is essential.

Favourable skills and experience would include Tertiary qualification in arts, theatre technical production or a related field; sound use of a database systems and a current and valid class C Australian driver’s license.
