Nixer Pro Audio has announced the RS32 change-over switch and the RP64 Dante digital patchbay, both new AoIP tools designed for applications that include broadcast, recording studios, post production and live sound.
The RS32 is designed for quick, reassignment of critical audio sources in the event that a main source fails, allowing engineers and operators to route to a backup device. It provides 32 individual 2-by-1 change-over switches in a 1RU frame, where each switch has two inputs that can be routed to any one output. One input is active at any given time and switches can be ganged together to create a maximum 32-pole switch.
The RP64 is a 64 Dante input to 64 Dante output digital patchbay, and using an interface, it’s possible to connect any Dante input to any Dante output. This facilitates fast re-patching of critical signals without having to use a laptop with Dante Controller, which can cause delays and potentially critical downtime.
“Both of these new products are direct results of customer requests, particularly coming from engineers in live productions and events, as well as theatre applications,” says Nick Fletcher, CEO of Nixer Pro Audio.
“We’re always listening to the audio professionals, who actually do the hands-on real-world work, and when we hear of a demand that falls within our expertise, we pursue it relentlessly and with dedication to come up with product designs that solve the problems in question.”
RS32 and RP64 can be powered via PoE on the primary Dante port. Further, a DC input offers power redundancy, while a secondary RJ45 port ensures network redundancy. At 120 mm depth, RS32 and RP64 can be deployed in almost any frame, desk or custom location, while providing operation via a 168 mm letterbox colour LCD display.
