Night Show Operator

The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.

We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.

About the role:

The Night Show Operator is primarily responsible for the delivery of AURA by following set routines, standard operating procedures and safety checks. To ensure the previous checks are carried out thoroughly and methodically which will enable the show to be ran to the highest possible standard. The Night Show Operator could also be called upon to assist with other night show activities when and as required.

The Night Show Operator works as part of a team for the delivery of AURA, which is an immersive 90-minute theatre experience using 3D technology that follows gold from its creation through to its discovery, right up until the current day.  The role also involves delivering a high level of customer service to our visitors.     

This is a casual role, that will require availability of weeknights, weekends and public holidays. 

To be successful in this role you should have:

– Experience in a similar role or with technical theatre productions.  Audio visual/sound would be highly regarded
– Experience in programming or running technical aspects of shows/systems
– Excellent computer skills.  Knowledge of programming shows would be highly regarded
– An understanding and commitment to ensuring a safe work environment
– Highly motivated, well organised and with excellent communication skills
– Demonstrated fault finding skills and accurate reporting skills.
