NEXO has announced the launch of Alpha +, a hybrid source loudspeaker system — comprised of M210 Main, B218 Bass and L20 Sub-bass modules designed to be easy to stack — that’s a modernized update of the original Alpha Series system introduced in the 1990s.
The M210 is horn-loaded, outfitted with four 3-inch compression drivers joined by two 10-inch woofers. Continuously varying horizontal directivity from 60 degrees at the top of the M210 to 120 degrees at the bottom can be modified to 90/120 degrees or 60/60 degrees using flanges, and the waveguide block can be “unlocked” and its articulation changed from narrow vertical coverage (0/-20 degrees) to wide/standard (+20/-20 degrees).
The B218 is a horn-loaded dual 18-inch and the L20 a band-pass single 20-inch design from the existing P+ Series range. With a range of hardware available, stacked and installed systems of various sizes can be configured with Main and Bass modules typically used together in a ratio of 1:1.
NEXO’s 4 x 4500 watts (2 ohms) NXAMP4X4Mk2 powered TD controller provides an optimized amplification and processing platform for Alpha +. A basic stacked system of an M210, a B218 and a L20 left and right requires a single NXAMP4X4Mk2 for each side, with two channels for the Main, one for the Bass and one for both Subs.
Speaking at the launch of Alpha + at ISE in Barcelona, NEXO Sales and Marketing Director Gareth Collyer says “Like its predecessor, Alpha + is an impressively powerful system, with new features that make a lot of sense in the modern world,” says NEXO sales and marketing director Gareth Collyer. “A stacked system that can handle a mid-sized festival stage saves a lot of cost building towers and flying line arrays and Alpha + goes where a line array won’t such as theatres and venues without hanging points.
“And all the club-goers around the world who’ve enjoyed a great night on an Alpha-powered dance floor are in for a real treat when they hear Alpha +.”
