NEUTRIK has announced the launch of the new powerCON TRUE1 TOP heavy-duty sealed single-phase power connector that’s specifically designed and specified for outdoor applications, and it will be on display at the NAMM Show this coming January at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Offering a robust design with CBC breaking capacity, the new connector includes a latched fast locking mechanism designed to prevent the connector from being accidentally detached, as well as the ability to plug in under load and the unique NEUTRIK bushing and strain relief. New soft compound materials improve durability and haptics, while the all black color scheme includes the latch assembly for discrete “on-set” low visibility.
powerCON TRUE1 TOP connectors are VDE and UL tested and certified in accordance with IEC EN 60320-1 to help ensure compliance with the latest internationally recognized industry safety requirements. NEUTRIK states that the TOP (Total Outdoor Protection) designation indicates a breadth of environmental and safety protections, beyond the required certifications, for extended endurance and operability in the most adverse application environments.
To protect against the degradation of materials due to UV light during extended exposure to sunlight, high-impact F1 certified UV resistant plastic and rubber materials and components are used extensively. Elsewhere rigorous UV resistance testing is conducted in accordance with IEC EN 62368-1, demanding endurance under specific test conditions. Salt spray tests and noxious gas exposure tests, to the same IEC EN 62368-1 standard, help ensure resistance to corrosion and assure the durability and longevity of the connectors in adverse environmental conditions. Adherence to both IP65 and IP67 ratings protect against ingression of particulates, while IP65 provides protection against liquid jets and sprays and IP67 against temporary immersions in liquids.
Male and female cable connectors are available in TRUE1-S and TRUE1-L variants, with locking bushing and strain relief for cable diameters from 6-12 mm/0.23-0.47 in and 10-16 mm/0.39-0.63 in, respectively.
The integrity of power supply connections is most reliably achieved when mating powerCON TRUE1 TOP cable connectors with the corresponding new powerCON TRUE1 TOP chassis connectors. These are similarly designed and manufactured from high-impact environmentally resistant materials to the same standards of durability, reliable and performance – with breaking capacity (CBC).
Tested and certified to EC EN 60320-1, in compliance with international electrical safety standards, the TOP designation likewise encompasses resistance to and testing in respect of UV light exposure and corrosion. IP65 and IP67 ratings certify protections in respect of particulate and liquid ingression, while NEUTRIK’s testing protocol and “airtightness” classification is designed to help guarantee the devices remain hermetically sealed.
The chassis connectors are available as individual inlet and outlet connectors, or as a combined inlet/outlet mounting. All have an integral sealing design with integrated sealing cap, and fully airtight patented technology.
