NATIONAL OPERATIONS MANAGER

history ranging from major international arts festivals, to significant public events such as Vivid Sydney, Rising Melbourne, Illuminate Adelaide and Enlighten Canberra, to exceptional large-scale stadium shows for Olympic and Commonwealth Games Ceremonies and the like.

The company is a complete solution provider, bringing together a unique combination of creative and technical disciplines to produce transformative site-specific experiences. We offer our clients creative concept development, technical design, content production, equipment and infrastructure provision and on-site delivery – all from under the same roof.

The Electric Canvas is seeking an experienced industry professional to oversee the company’s day-today technical operations from our Sydney headquarters in the role of National Operations Manager. Significant production and technical experience are key to the role, however audio-visual experience is not essential. The successful individual will be expected to promote a strong, collaborative team environment within the company.

JOB TITLE: National Operations Manager
JOB TYPE: Full-time
LOCATION: Chatswood headquarters (Sydney), occasional local and interstate travel required
SUPERVISOR / MANAGER: Managing Director
COLLABORATORS: Technical Director, Production Coordinator
DIRECT REPORTS: Technicians, Maintenance Manager, Warehouse Manager

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee the company’s day-to-day technical operations
• Collaborative project resource planning
• Coordination, supervision and motivation of in-house technical team
• Crew bookings and coordination
• Coordination of on-site crew as required
• Freight and logistics planning and management
• Workplace health and safety management

EXPERIENCE:
• Significant technical production experience within the events, theatre or film/TV industries
(NB: extensive audio-visual experience is not essential)
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating a team

SKILLS:
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills
• Highly organised
• Attention to detail
• High safety standards
• Good communication skills
• Competent computer skills (MS Office, Google Workspace, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS:
• Forklift Licence (training can be arranged)
• HR or MR truck licence is an advantage
• EWP licences are an advantage
• Current clean driver’s licence and own transport
• Current passport

• Manage the in-house technical team with professionalism and respect
