The 2024 My Room Telethon Special aired live on Channel Nine and raised an impressive $5,246,459 for the My Room charity which supports young children battling cancer.
Production and Lighting Design:
Designed by Daniel Saveski, the production featured a layered non-symmetrical lighting and video set design that pushed the boundaries of virtual set creation, offering a visually captivating and dynamic experience.
About the Design:
“My goal was to create a space that keeps the audience guessing / questioning whether they’re seeing part of the physical set or virtual content. I worked closely with the GTV9 graphics team to develop virtual shading and lighting techniques that added depth through the camera lens while avoiding an artificial look. Each shot needed to have a unique background so I layered lights into both the foreground and background together with visual elements that created a sense of space that felt dynamic and immersive.”
