Melbourne Street Eatz powered by Electro-Voice

After being isolated at home for most of 2020, Melbourne Street Eatz Festival 2021 was one of the first events that brought everyone together after the pandemic of 2020.

Melbourne Street Eatz is a pop-up, open-air, food truck festival held on the banks of the Yarra River, in front of Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The festival runs from February to April each year and is known for its rotating calendar of gourmet food trucks, a wide range of live music and entertainment.

This year, the Melbourne Street Eatz festival was most particularly aimed towards reconnecting local musicians, businesses and communities that have been struggling during the pandemic. The festival ran from the 11th of February to the 5th of April 2021, where over 54,000 individuals attended to enjoy some time with family and friends whilst listening to great music and enjoying amazing food.

Electro-Voice’s EVOLVE 30M was the chosen sound system for the event. Jands, who distribute the EVOLVE 30M, saw this as a perfect opportunity to put the portable column loudspeaker system through its paces.

Why did Jands choose Electro-Voice for this production? Because the EVOLVE 30M supports various mics and inputs required for different types of performers such as acoustics sets, band performances, as well as DJ performances. It is an easy-to-use, highly portable and lightweight system with extraordinary connectivity, control, coverage and output relative to its footprint.

The stage was set with Electro-Voice merchandise and both TourX and EVOLVE 30M loudspeaker systems. With many acts performing throughout the event, Jands sourced local musicians Gabriel Vargas and Acoustic Mojo Music as the 2 main acts on the Electro-Voice stage.

All artists had positive feedback about the sound and power of the EVOLVE 30M, with Peter from Acoustic Mojo Music stating that the EVOLVE 30M is “…the punchiest speaker for its size that I’d ever played with”. Gabriel Vargas recalled that “…the EVOLVE 30M is everything I need for my style in terms of sound clarity and ease of application”.

The Director of Street Eatz, Gaz Kempster, noted: “The power of the EVOLVE 30M really impressed me, we were easily able to configure stages for each performing arrangement”.
