As a proud sponsor of the Crows, Staging Connections Adelaide pulled out all stops to make this year’s annual gala dinner the best yet. On top of a stunning AV design, the night was MC’d by Nova’s Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald with performances by The Superjesus.
Held on the arena floor of the Adelaide Entertainment Centre for 800 VIPs and guests, the club’s 25th season was celebrated by using predominantly silver colouring whilst also highlighting the club’s colours of red, yellow and blue. Being one of the club’s major fundraising events for the year, Staging Connections were also tasked with delivering a high impact stage look with practical vision systems to display silent auction progress and engage the audience in the evening’s events.
To incorporate the silver of 25 years, aluminium trussing was deployed around projection screens, in the air and around the circular ceiling feature that featured an 8m wide projection of the AFC’s 25 year logo. ShowPro Quad 18 LED lighting enabled all truss to be dramatically lit whilst PixPads allowed the room to be washed in changing colours depending on the events during the night. Also in the rig were MAC Auras, MAC350s, and MAC600s with a MA Lighting MA2 light for control.
Most importantly, the event also saw the debut of Staging Connections Adelaide’s brand new Martin MAC Quantum Profiles! This extremely bright LED profile fixture combines top-quality white light with a fast, smooth CMY colour mixing system and crisp gobo projection on surfaces as well as mid-air.
With all this and the new Animotion™ FX system that allows never-before seen beam animations, the market is now finally seeing the first real 700/800 W discharge lamp replacement in a profile fixture that effectively harnesses cutting-edge LED technology.
“We purchased six MAC Quantum Profiles to replace our MAC500s and MAC550s,” commented Ashley Gabriel, Regional General Manager for Staging Connections South Australia, Northern Territory & Western Australia. “We wanted a bright LED fixture that would be user-friendly and versatile, so if people had gobos for MAC700s for example, the fixture could take them. We needed punch and power behind the light and that’s why we chose the MAC Quantums as a good strong profile.”
At the gala dinner the MAC Quantums were positioned on the rear truss pointing back towards the stage from where they provided key lighting for the lectern and entertainers, as well as effects lighting for the band and entertainment.
“Basically they were used for silhouette and highlighting of the artist on stage,” added Ashley. “This was the first event we had used them on and they performed brilliantly. They really punched through the air; more than we expected to be honest! They made a great impact and we’re really rapt with them. Obviously the crew want more now!”
