The Moama Lights is a 600m long immersive lighting and audio experience created for the Horseshoe Lagoon on the Murray River in the border town of Echuca Moama. Working with the Murray River Council over six months, Mandylights designed all elements of the event creative including lighting, the curation of a new twenty five minute soundtrack and oversight of artwork designs with local Yorta Yorta indigenous artists in addition to over a hundred children from local schools. Mandylights then manufactured all bespoke elements – including a thousand handmade native flowers – and supplied complete production on site including all lighting, audio and crewing for the massive project.
The inaugural two week event has been a tremendous success, selling out in days and helping to reboot the local economy that has been devastated by repeated border closures between New South Wales and Victoria over the last year. The Moama Lights was made possible by the NSW Government’s Streets as Shared Spaces funding and the project’s designers and producers also acknowledge assistance from Destination NSW and Visit Victoria.
