About the role
As the Manager, Live Production you will be responsible for managing a team of rigging, audio, vision and lighting specialist and coordinators who provide event design and quality control of technology services to events. Using your knowledge and experience you will collaborate with multiple key stakeholders to ensure a high level of service can be delivered across different event classes being hybrid events, live/ticketed, conferences and expos.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee specialised production elements to ensure successful planning and delivery of events on a rolling basis.
- Manage the provision of advice, from specialists to sales and planners, in the design of services for events.
- Work with Infrastructure & Equipment team, to optimise revenues for equipment and services provided to events, and to ensure all equipment and services are provided with a high level of quality.
- Oversee the specialist managers in their implementation of systems and capital projects.
- Lead a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance by providing leadership and coaching.
- Provide support and guidance, and help prioritise, rather than ‘command and control’ directives.
- Elevate performance and promote accountability with direct reports.
- Ensure expenditure on specialised services team is managed within the allocated budget targets for labour margins.
- Ensure all resource and package management undertaken by specialists is performed consistently and to an agreed level of quality.
- Optimise the use of MCEC equipment to ensure revenue is maximised.
- Engage, manage, and develop your people, ensuring development plans are in place for team members.
- Engage regularly with Customer Experience Tribes and operational services (technology planning, sales, operations, set-ups, and safety & security) to collaborate, share knowledge, and ensure best practices are followed.

Qualifications, knowledge, and Experience
Essential
- Construction card
- EWP license
- 5+ years’ experience in the AV industry, with a focus on the technical elements of event production – lighting, rigging, audio, and vision systems.
- Demonstrated production management skills, particularly focused on managing schedules and scope of events.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams with specialised skills sets.
- Composure and ability to lead with confidence and calmness when faced with competing high-priority projects and difficult decision making.
- Complex troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Interpersonal skills required when working with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels within the organisation.
- Experience with the automation of technical processes in relation production management
- Capability to embrace, adapt and respond to change.
- Ability to create and promote a positive environment based on trust and psychological safety where our people are engaged, contribute their best and aspire to reach their full potential.
- Ability to demonstrate servant leadership in practice, by leaning in when appropriate to ensure the teams achieve their outcomes but providing autonomy and empowering those closest to the work.
