Mackie Debuts New ThumpSub GO Portable Subwoofer

Mackie has announced the debut of the new ThumpSub GO, a battery-powered, portable, dual 8-inch-loaded subwoofer with a slim, ergonomic profile that’s designed for use by live sound professionals, DJs and musicians.

ThumpSub GO combines two battery compartments for a stated up to 12 hours of continuous bass thumping using two rechargeable GB-200 batteries at once.* Since the sub also works with a single battery, it’s possible to charge a second battery elsewhere then hot swap it out/ (*ThumpSub GO includes one GB-200 battery for up to 6 hours of battery life. Optional second battery sold separately.)

The new subwoofer is the companion to the Thump GO battery-powered loudspeaker as well as Thump210, Thump210XT, ShowBox and any portable loudspeaker with up to a 10-inch woofer. Users can also mount a loudspeaker above ThumpSub GO using the SPM400 pole (sold separately).

“There are a lot of battery-powered speakers on the market, but very few battery-powered subwoofers to go along with them. It’s a huge gap in portable PA systems,” says Ty Vaughn, associate director of product development. “Adding a sub makes you realize how much low frequency content you’ve been missing.”

ThumpSub GO can stream music wirelessly from phones, tablets and laptops with Bluetooth. Because any streaming audio gets passed from ThumpSub GO to any connected loudspeakers, the subwoofer can create a complete Bluetooth-capable PA system even if the loudspeakers don’t have built-in Bluetooth.

The subwoofer has inputs and outputs for mono, stereo and zone PA systems. A phase inversion switch is designed to help solve phase cancellation issues. High pass and full range modes allow users to optimise the balance between the subwoofer and connected loudspeakers. Also onboard are LEDs for system power, overload, and one for each battery.
