Mackie has announced the latest addition to its Thrash series, the new Thrash212 GO, a battery-powered loudspeaker with a 12-inch ferrite woofer and 1-inch titanium compression driver that are driven by an onboard amplifier stated to deliver up to 300 watts joined by Bluetooth connectivity for music streaming and stereo linking.
The swappable, rechargeable Lithium-ion battery is specified to provide up to 10 hours of playtime on a single charge. The loudspeaker, housed in a painted polypropylene enclosure, is designed to be portable and light enough to carry with four built-in handles. Also onboard are dual TRS combo jacks as inputs.
“Battery-powered products are everywhere these days from our cars, phones, laptops and headphones to our portable music listening devices,” says Matt Redmon, Mackie director of product marketing. “One setting that has not really benefited from this battery-powered revolution, however, is event spaces — particularly remote and/or large events where power is not readily available. With those settings in mind, we leveraged our decades of loudspeaker design into a battery-powerable, Bluetooth-capable loudspeaker: Thrash212 GO.”
