Brock Coddington says he founded New Zealand’s Peak LX as a way of providing a lighting service with a difference.
“I started Peak LX to prove to people that with a little bit of care and attention, lighting can be done correctly,” said Brock. “I frequently see companies providing lighting as a service but not taking the time to do it properly. I wanted to show people what lighting can look like when you’re passionate about what you do.”
And we all know that if you’re serious about lighting there is only one control platform – MA Lighting! Brock learnt his trade on a Hog4 but when he was introduced to MA consoles, he instantly fell in love with the platform.
“When I started my company, MA was the only choice,” he said. “I know its capabilities and how user-customisable it is. I needed something that was cost-effective, had all the functionality of MA but was still easy to transport as I do fly quite a bit with my work.”
Consequently Brock opted for an MA onPC command wing and fader wing which is simple to operate yet has all the functionalities that he requires.
“I find the user interface to be amazing, above and beyond anything else I have ever used,” he added. “MA is the console that lets you decide how you want to run your show. The way I interact with it as an operator means I don’t have to think about using it and it has a lot of backend features that make my life easier.”
Peak LX caters to a variety of work which is reflected in the photographs; The New Zealand Emergency Services Ball, WWE in Christchurch where the command and playback wing were run in session with a MA2 light to provide a full tracking backup, then more recently the New Zealand tour of Boyzlife.
