LumenRadio releases MiraOS

Wireless technology provider LumenRadio, developers of future-proof coexistence connectivity, has released an enhanced operating system — MiraOS. With a new set of unique features to support ultra-reliable and future-proof meshed networks, the upgrade includes many highly anticipated features such as multi-standard and IPv6 support, easy commissioning by NFC and Bluetooth (coming soon), as well as exceptionally high precision time-stamping of data.

LumenRadio’s patented technologies and the enhanced MiraOS are specifically tailored to enable products to become smart and connected. The technology is easy to integrate and allows manufacturers to develop the application software needed to control and collect data from their products.

MiraOS operates on a wide range of radio chips using state-of-the-art algorithms for mesh, coexistence, ultra-low power, over-the-air firmware updates, supporting standard IPv6 communication. By eliminating interference and adding the ability to co-exist side-by-side with other wireless technologies, smart building product manufacturers can future-proof their offerings in a whole new way with MiraOS.

“In addition to our existing patents, I dare to say that our new features make us a strong contender when it comes to ultra-reliable and future-proof wireless connectivity,” says Alexander Hellström, CEO of LumenRadio. “With this release we aim at making it easier than ever to implement an ultra low power device-to-device connectivity solution for IoT-products at the edge,” he continues.

“As we can also provide hardware in addition to our software, we have a full-service solution that offer product manufacturers everything in one bundle — from help to adhere to full sustainability requirements and complete technology certifications to the actual deployment. I firmly believe that we have now positioned ourselves as a leading provider of innovative wireless connectivity on the global market”, says Niclas Norlén, CTO of LumenRadio.

The new features include:

Ultra-low power consumption for battery operated solutions:
* Five years operation in meshing mode from a AA-sized battery
* 15 years operation in non-routing (leaf) mode from a AA-sized battery

Multi-standard support:
LumenRadio’s system allows future upgrades/compatibility to any standard communication stack based on the BLE or 802.15.4 physical layer, which provides future-proofing out of the ordinary.

Full IPv6 support:
The upgraded operating system has full IPv6 support to facilitate easier and more rapid development of applications on top of MiraOS.

Easy commissioning using NFC or Bluetooth:
Up until now, commissioning has presented a big challenge for installers. LumenRadio’s MiraOS has solved this by making it possible to do efficient and easy commissioning by using a smartphone distributing network credentials to devices over NFC or Bluetooth (coming soon).

Extreme accurate time synchronization in industrial sensor networks:
* Wireless high precision time-stamping (<50us)
* Enable advanced correlation analysis by data aggregation from multiple sensors

LumenRadio is showcasing MiraOS and the new features at the Light + Building trade show in Frankfurt March 18 – 23. Attendees are welcome to stop by for a demonstration and consultation on how to implement the contemporary connectivity solutions into the user’s lighting system. Stop by at stand 4.1.B71 for a coffee and a chat!
