Live Production, Theatre and Events Technician

  • Ongoing, part time role – 15 hours per week
  • Work across live production, theatre and events as a technician, specialising in lighting, audio and/or AV
  • Werribee based across our Cultural Venues – Wyndham Cultural Centre, Encore and Werribee Civic Centre
  • Band 4 salary of $70,602.48 (pro rata) plus super

A bit about the role

As a Technical Support Officer in the Arts, Events & Cultural Venues department at Wyndham Council, you will provide a high level of customer service to the Cultural Venues Unit’s external and internal customers and stakeholders.

This position will require you to work nights and weekends, as a consequence of performance requirements. You will also be required to work across sites in Wyndham City to meet operational and business requirements.

What you’ll do

  • Assist hirers, producers, theatre companies, artists and performers with a high level of technical support 
  • Undertake shift supervision and Venue Technician responsibilities as required
  • Actively assist in the bump in and bump out of events and performance equipment
  • Provide high levels of expertise to venue users in all aspects of venues technical systems
  • Provide skilled operation of venue systems during rehearsals and performances.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by undertaking regular and systematic maintenance of inhouse equipment
  • Determine the safety and suitability of equipment to be used in Cultural Venues by hirers and contractors
  • Maintain the backstage areas in a clean, tidy and operational condition at all times
  • Work to set deadlines, keeping to a schedule as required

What you’ll bring

  • Flexible availability to work across all days and times of the week
  • Technical Theatre qualifications (lighting & audio) equivalent to a trades certificate or Certificate III 
  • Experience working in the theatre or entertainment industry in backstage technical operations
  • Desired Tickets/Qualifications: Elevated Working Platform (EWP), Dogging/Rigging License and First Aid Qualifications
  • Current Working with Children Check 
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
