September 13 2009, saw Lightmoves celebrate 20 years of operation. Starting off as a ‘theatrical lighting’ company, Lightmoves has expanded into architectural feature lighting, lighting control and home automation across various sectors of the entertainment, architectural and electrical industries.
Managing Director Braham Ciddor is a little surprised at the company’s longevity, “When we started out, we really didn’t know where we were headed and we certainly couldn’t have predicted where we are now. Starting out trying to fill a niche in the entertainment industry, the business quickly expanded when we saw the emergence of lighting control technology and our partnership with Dynalite has seen the company and the markets we work in, expand dramatically.”
Braham’s business partner, and Lightmoves Technical Director Andrew Sherar, has seen first hand how much technology has evolved in the last 20 years. “The last 20 years have been exciting with the converging of technologies from Lighting, Audio & Video segments as well as I.T. The next 20 years will present many challenges to ensure we remain at the forefront of technology evolution to deliver exciting technical integration to our clients.”
The occasion was celebrated internally with some fairly subdued and humble celebrations, after which business returned to normal and both partners set about planning for Lightmoves next 20 years of operation.
