Technician – Lighting (2 positions available)

Variable time – 25 hrs per week (1300 hrs over 12 months)
The Arts Centre is the largest performing arts centre in Australia comprising the State Theatre, Playhouse and Fairfax Studio, Hamer Hall, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and a range of ancillary spaces. It attracts more than 3 million visitors each year. Situated in the heart of Melbourne’s cultural precinct, the Arts Centre collaborates with artists, presenters and performing arts organisations to create, facilitate, promote and present world-class programs to appeal to a broad and diverse audience.
The Lighting department provides equipment and trained technicians to set up and operate Lighting equipment to support and provide effects for rehearsals and performances & events.
This position requires an experienced individual to participate in our functions and special events team, across all areas of the complex.
Typical duties performed at this level may include, but not be limited to, the following:
•Set up and operation of lighting equipment for performance, in a team and individually
•Delivering procedures and practices to comply with safety requirements
•Lighting knowledge applicable to theatre event delivery
•Working knowledge of Arts Centre venues and relevant lighting equipment.
•Participating in event & venue documentation including fault reporting and consumables
•Participating in venue and daily maintenance
Applicant requirements
Completed a relevant Trade Certificate at a recognised institution or a minimum of 2 years experience working with a lighting crew in the theatre or entertainment industry
