About the Role

We are seeking applications for the casual role of Technician – Lighting. Working under limited supervision, you will provide hands-on professional, client focused services to venue hirers and other QPAC Units. These positions involve working with teams of technicians in multiple venues in a high-pressure hands-on team environment. The diversity and quality of work in our centre offers multiple avenues for development and growth within the industry. 

The hours of work will be primarily theatre based with some maintenance and office work. Availability will be required for day, evening and weekend hours and for extended periods to service hirer’s schedules. Depending on business activity, you may be required to work more than thirty-eight (38) hours per week however approved penalty and overtime rates are applicable.

In this role you will:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Under limited supervision, work with teams of technicians in multiple venues in a high-pressure hands-on team environment.
  • Under limited supervision, assist with the set-up, operate and maintain production equipment, controlsystems, scenery, rigging and effects in the (respective) department in a live theatre environment to the highest standards.
  • Contribute to the Trust’s change management programs and equitable and safe work practices.
  • Be available to work long and flexible hours as required, for prolonged periods including overnight and at weekends.
  • Other duties as required from time to time in other departments to meet operational requirements.

About You

To be successfull in this role, we are looking for:

  • Experience with lighting control systems, data networks and multi-venue theatre centres
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical requirements and specifications and implement them with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability and technical skills to set up, operate and maintain stage lighting and production equipment, systems and effects, in the (respective) department, in a live theatre environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a broad range of people and with a flexible open-minded approach to change in high-pressure situations.
