Lighting Technician

Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Lighting Technician to provide maintenance and technical support services for the operation and development of exhibition spaces and programs.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary focus of this position is to help fulfil the daily technical maintenance and operational requirements of Museum Victorias exhibitions and to support project teams in the development of new visitor experiences.

Key knowledge and skills:

  • Knowledge of theatrical exhibition lighting techniques and demonstrated experience in the installation, focus and maintenance of lighting equipment.
  • Demonstrated basic electrical knowledge and experience working around electrical and dimmer installations
  • Experience in theatre systems and processes, including knowledge of the electrical and data requirements of exhibition technology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the latest OH&S and site safety practices

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in initiating and leading small technical projects; be able to work well within teams; have excellent communication skills; and a sound knowledge of current trends and developments, including sustainability, within the exhibition and affiliated industries and an awareness of the ICOM code of ethics.
