City Recital Hall is offering an exciting full-time opportunity for an energetic individual looking to take the next step in a career in the performing arts industry.
We present the best of contemporary and classical live music experiences from world-renowned artists, both local and international. Your extensive front-of-house management expertise will enhance patron experiences, connecting artists and audiences, and making the experience complete.
The Lighting Supervisor role is a full-time role that will operate events, attend production meetings and oversee lighting preparation for incoming shows. Your design skills will be applied to create concert lighting states where required, and to assist visiting designers in realising their artistic vision in our venue. You will also perform equipment maintenance, develop a lighting preventative maintenance program, and aid in purchasing and staffing decisions to deliver the industry’s best standard of stage lighting.
The Lighting Supervisor works in close collaboration with producers, event planning, stage management, sound and staging technicians and visiting lighting designers, technicians and clients.
You work well within creative teams, with open communication and healthy respect for theatre traditions and etiquette. You enjoy collaboration and creative problem solving, and are skilled in interpreting artistic visions into lighting effects. You lead calmly under pressure, handling competing priorities while meeting performance deadlines.

To be considered for this position you should possess:
- Comprehensive skills and experience (minimum 3 years) in professional lighting services for the performing arts.
- Ability to interpret and create lighting documentation, and perform lighting operations to the highest standard without supervision.
- Good working knowledge of lighting equipment and venue infrastructure including:
o Lighting network setup and distribution
o Lighting consoles – including ETC GEO.
o Moving light fixtures – setting, addressing and trouble-shooting.
o Intelligent lighting fixtures including LED technology and strobes etc.
o Follow spot operation.
o Conventional lighting and lamp maintenance.
o System fault finding. - Ability to lead small teams to execute an effective and cost efficient outcome.
- Physical fitness, agility and ability to work at heights, with a commitment to abide by WHS standards and City Recital Hall policies.
- Ability and commitment to work on a rotating shift basis, including nights and weekends.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of digital technology and CAD.
